A Laguna policeman and his friend were killed in separate gun attacks by unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen in Famy and Siniloan towns Saturday and yesterday.

A report submitted to Laguna Police Provincial Office by Senior Insp.  Nimrod Eco Balgemino, Famy police chief, identified the victim as PO2 Rogelio Ebora Cuento, of the Famy Police Station.

Reports said Cuento, who was driving his black Montero wagon last Saturday, was peppered with bullets by the suspects armed with unknown types of firearms. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

Investigation revealed that the victim was the brother of former Famy Mayor Joel Cuento.

Police said the ambush transpired in Bgy. Balitoc at about 8:55 p.m. after the victim attended their high school batch reunion party.

Policemen are still tracking down the suspects who drove the victim’s motorcycle in their escape.
Six hours later, Cuento’s close friend was also ambushed by unidentified RIT gunmen in Bgy. Redor, Siniloan, Laguna, yesterday morning.
Police said the victim, identified as Pete Balwis Kristo, resident of the said town, was found with gunshot wounds in the head.
Reports said he was shot by unidentified suspects riding a red Yamaha Crypton (WI7223) at about 1:40 a.m.
The suspects immediately escaped after the incident, according to police investigators.
