Canadian gunned down, wife injured

Batangas City -- A 66-year-old Canadian national was shot dead by unidentified suspects in front of his residence in Purok 3, Sitio Maharlika, Bgy. Tingga Itaas, here, last Sunday.

Police identified the victim, who is a retiree and a Canadian national, as Barry Thomas Gamon.

Special investigators SPO2 Teodorico Magboo, SPO1 Bernabe Mausig Damayan and PO1 Jay-Ar Olave, along with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team led by Senior Insp. Julius Bathan Almeda, responded to conduct an investigation.

Investigation showed that at about 7:45 p.m. on June 24, Thomas, with his wife Luzviminda Comia Gamon, 45, were at the gate of their house when the unidentified suspects suddenly appeared and shot Barry Thomas in different parts of the body and fled.

Gamon and his wife were rushed to St. Camillus de Lellis Hospital where the Canadian retiree was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dra. Kathelyn Talaue.

A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team processed the crime scene where they recovered four live ammunition, three fired cartridge casings and two fired bullets at the scene.

The motive behind the killing is still being ascertained by the police.
