Calamba Drug Enforcement Team collars trader for P130-K shabu

A 59-year-old businessman was arrested by operatives Drug Enforcement Team (DET) for possession of 20 grams of suspected shabu in buy-bust operation at Calamba Market in Purok 5, Bgy. Uno, Calamba City, Laguna, Monday afternoon.

Calabarzon police director Chief Supt. Edward Carranza identified the suspect as Jesus Catindig, of Purok 5, Bgy. Uno, Calamba City, who is included on the drug watchlist in the city.

Reports said that at 1:30 p.m., DET operatives led by Chief Insp. Mark Julius Rebanal, under the direct supervision of Supt. Harold Depositar, OIC chief of police, conducted a buy-bust operation in Purok 5 that resulted in the arrest of the suspect and confiscation of 17 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu (20 grams), P1,000 in marked money, 12 pieces of P1,000 bills, 14 pieces of P500 bills, a cal. .45 pistol Norinco and a magazine loaded with five bullets.

The confiscated 20 grams of shabu has an estimated street value P130,600.

The suspect reportedly makes his rice business as front for selling illegal drugs.

“Isinasama sa lalagyan ng bigas ang shabu kapag ito ay nagbebenta sa kanyang mga parukyano,” Supt. Depositar said.

The arrested suspect and the pieces of evidence were brought to Calamba police station for proper disposition and later brought to Regional Crime Laboratory Office 4A at Camp Vicente Lim for drug test.

Charges for violation of Secs. 5 and 11 of RA 9165 and RA 10591 will be filed against the suspect before the Prosecutor’s Office.
