CAA member abducted, gunned down in Negros

A member of the Cafgu Active Auxiliary (CAA) was abducted and killed by suspected members of the New
People’s Army (NPA) the other day in Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental.

Army’s 3rd Infantry Division spokesperson Capt. Eduardo A. Precioso Jr. identified the victim
as Gelino Vailoces, 52, assigned at Cuadra Detachment under Alpha Company, 12th Infantry Battalion in
Siaton, Negros Oriental.
     
Precioso said the victim was forcibly taken by at least 30 armed men inside his house in Bgy.
Talalak, Sta. Catalina at around 3 p.m. on Nov. 12, 2017.
     
Around 8 a.m. the following day, the victim’s body was found 1.5 kilometers away from Cuadra
Detachment.
     
The victim sustained gunshot wounds in the knees and mouth.
     
According to Col. Eliezer Lozanes, commander of the Army’s 303rd  Brigade, the victim was
off-duty when he was abducted by the rebels.
 
Lozanes said the incident is a clear violation of the Comprehensive Agreement with Respect for
Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL) that was signed between the government and
the National Democratic  Front of the Philippines (NDFP).
