LUPAO, Nueva Ecija -- A 51-year-old businesswoman was peppered with bullets by two unidentified riding-in-tandem assailants in this town on Sunday morning.
Police identified the slain trader as Rowena de Guzman, of Bgy. Poblacion North, this town, who was declared dead on arrival at Heart of Jesus Hospital in San Jose City due to gunshot wounds in the head.
Provincial police director Senior Supt. Antonio C. Yarra said the gun assault was perpetrated in front of the Jesus Is Alive Church in Bgy. San Pedro at 8:30 a.m.
The victim was about to alight from the tricycle she was riding to attend worship service when she was shot in the head by one of two suspects, who were described to be both wearing helmets and black jackets and riding a black Rouser motorcycle.
Then before leaving, one of them shot the victim again in the head and fled towards Umingan, Pangasinan.
Police said the victim’s body was brought to the Ilagan Funeral Parlor in San Jose City for autopsy.
Probers recovered at the crime scene two fired cartridges and a deformed slug for cal. .45 which were submitted to the Nueva Ecija Crime Laboratory Office for ballistic test.
Yarra said the motive behind the trader’s slaying is still being ascertained.
