LUCENA City -- A jail guard of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) who has gone AWOL (absent without official leave) was held along with his live-in partner during a drug-bust operation inside a motel in Bgy. Isabang, here, on Thursday.

Quezon police director Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman identified the duo as Teodorico Burac, alias Jong, 48,  and Mhyrza Agbuya, alias Inday, 28, both of Bgy. Gulang- Gulang.

De Guzman said the suspects were both included in the priority target list of Calabarzon Police Regional Office.

He said the operation was carried out by joint elements of Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) under Supt. Dennis de Leon and Lucena City Police Station under Supt. Reydante Ariza.

He said the suspects were arrested inside KM127 Hotel in Bgy. Isabang at 9:10 a.m. where they were caught red handed with 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with approximate weight of  2.8 grams valued at P5,180.

De Guzman said the lawmen also recovered the marked P500 bill they used in the buy-bust operation.

He said Burac’s brother, PO3 Laurence Burac, had played a vital role to the successful operation and arrest of the suspects, who were charged with violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.

It was learned that Agbuya’s father has been detained at the BJMP District Jail over drug charges.
