A KNOWN serial killer in Bulacan was arrested by the local police in an operation in San Miguel town last Wednesday, Bulacan Police Provincial Office director Senior Supt. Romeo M. Caramat Jr. said yesterday.

Ronnie Rueda, 55, farmer, was tracked down in his residence in Bgy. Lambakin, San Miguel, past 8 a.m. by undercover officers and was arrested on the strength of a warrant for murder issued by Judge Gregorio Sampaga of the Malolos City Regional Trial Court Branch 78. No bail has been recommended for the suspect, Caramat said.

The official said that the suspect is wanted for the October 29, 2016 murder of Arnel Mangunay, 42, also a farmer, as the victim was sleeping inside his store in Bgy. Maligaya. The motive behind the killing remained unknown.

The suspect was also identified as the man who shot to death Doreen Hulleza, 23, in Bgy. Sta. Ines on the afternoon of August 25, 2015. The case filed against the suspect did not prosper in court after the victim’s family failed to pursue it and even signed an affidavit of desistance.

Caramat said the suspect is now being held at the San Miguel Municipal Police Station pending the issuance of a commitment order on him by the court.
