CAMP Vicente Lim, Calamba, Laguna -- A man with a standing warrant of arrest for two counts of homicide and two counts of robbery was arrested in Bgy. Manggahan, Gen. Trias, Cavite, regional police chief PIO Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran said.

Acting PRO4-A regional director Chief Supt. Guillermo T. Eleazar identified the “notorious suspect” as Romnick Zuniga Reyes.

Eleazar said joint elements of SOU-RID 4A and Gen. Trias Police Station conducted an operation against the suspect in Bgy. Buenavista that resulted in an armed encounter.

The suspect succumbed to a lone gunshot wound in abdomen during the firefight and quickly ran to the barangay hall where he was cornered by the authorities.

According to Lemery Municipal Police Station commander Chief Insp. Lory Tarrazoa, they received a report that the suspect was convicted for homicide in Lipa City and jailed in Muntinlupa several years ago.

Upon release, the suspect held up a computer store and a rice store in Lemery town, where he also has two homicide cases and one was under investigation (HCUI).

Reports said he had some holdup cases in Laurel, Batangas.

He was also reportedly a member of notorious gun- for-hire syndicate where his job fee is at least P40,000, Tarrazoa said.

On May 12 Lemery police arrested his companion and put him in jail and disclosed the group’s plan.

The other day, the suspect was seen roaming around the neighborhood. Police tried to arrested him but he fought it off with the former and was able to escape.
