AWOL cop, pal held for gun, drugs

CAMP Malvar, Batangas -- An inactive 35-year-old policeman and his jobless partner were arrested by
authorities in Bgy. Libjo, Batangas City, provincial PIO chief Insp. Hazel P. Luma-ang Suarez said
the other day. 
Acting Batangas police director Senior Supt. Alden Bacarra Delvo identified the suspects as
Kristofferson Driz Reyes, alias “Kris”, and an absent without official leave PNP member, married,
and Henry Hernandez Banaira, 52, single, both newly-identified drug personalities of this station
and residents of Poblacion East, Taysan, Batangas.
Delvo said joint elements of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) led by SPO1 Richard C. Ante
and PO2 Rudy C. Anoñuevo Jr. of Batangas City Police Station, under the direct supervision of
acting police chief Supt. Wildemar T. Tiu and the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) led by Chief
Insp. Lunar arrested the two suspects at 4:40 p.m. and brought them to Bgy. Libjo police outpost
for documentation before they brought to the Batangas City Police Station.
The operating team recovered two (bulto) big heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets
containing suspected shabu, rose gold cellphone with a list of drug transactions, a 9mm Taurus
pistol with serial number TZC02060 with magazine inserted and 15 live bullets placed inside the
black sling bag.
The inventory of the recovered pieces of evidence was done in the presence of Bgy. Kagawad
Herman de Castro before they were brought to Batangas Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (BPCLO)
for ballistic examination.
The suspects were subjected to drug testing and physical examination at the Batangas
Medical Center, case officer PO2 Marco C. Eje said.
The suspects were detained at the police station holding cell, facing charges for
violations of Sec. 5, Art. II of RA 9165 and RA 10591.
