TRICYCLE drivers in Antipolo City underwent a Drug Abuse Preventive Education Seminar aimed to ensure
safety of the riding public.
The trikers were members of the Sitio Kaila Palengke Toda (SIKAPTODA) in Antipolo City.
The city government headed by Mayor Jun Ynares, in cooperation with the Antipolo City Anti-
Drug Abuse Office (ACADAO) and Pubic Transport Regulatory Board (PTBD), led the seminar.
Ynares said tricycle drivers were the main subject of the program after they were identifed as
among those vulnerable to drugs.
“Sinisikap po ng ating pamahalaang lungsod na mabigyan ang bawat isang mamamayan natin ng
malawak na pag-unawa sa droga at sa masamang dulot nito. Hindi lamang po mga kabataan ang nais nating
bigyan ng pansin sa ating kampanya kundi maging ang kanilang mga magulang na dapat na magsilbing gabay
nila,” said Ynares.
Discussed during the seminar were the provisions of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive
Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the penalties that await violators, including possible imprisonment
ranging from six months to 12 years and a fine from P50,000 to P200,000.
Also stressed during the program was the vital role of the family in preventing its members to
get involve in illegal drugs.
