Another pusher slain in Quezon shootout

LUCENA City -- A suspected notorious drug pusher was killed in a shootout with police operatives conducting a drug bust at Purok Sta. Monica, Bgy. 4, here.

Quezon police director Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman identified the slain suspect as Crisanto Ponada Cerganter, alias Cris, 38, mason carpenter, of said village.

De Guzman said the operation was carried out by joint elements of City Drug Enforcement Unit of Lucena City Police Station, Quezon Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)- Quezon under over-all supervision of Supt. Romulo Albacea, the city police director.

He said the suspect is included on the drugs watchlist of the city police station.

Albacea said the policeman who acted as poseur buyer during the opreration was able to buy a small plastic sachet containing 0.8 gram of suspected shabu using a P500 bill in marked money.

After the exchange, Albacea said the policeman, along with his colleagues positioned behind them, was about to arrest the suspect but the latter quickly resisted and traded shots with the lawmen.

The suspect was hit in the body and died on the spot.
