STO. Domingo, Nueva Ecija -- Another engineer-cum-contractor was gunned down by an unidentified assassin while the victim was having a drinking spree with his relatives here last Sunday afternoon.
Killed was Manuel Farin, 64, of Bgy. Cabugao, this town.
Police said Farin was having a drinking session with his brother Alfredo and brothers-in-law Andres and Leandro Salazar at the terrace of his house when the gunman arrived on foot and suddenly peppered him with bullets.
After the murderous attack which took place at 4:30 p.m., the suspect hurriedly boarded a white Yamaha Mio motorcycle and fled towards Licab-Talavera Road.
Senior Supt. Eliseo T. Tanding, provincial police director, said the victim was rushed to Sto. Domingo District Hospital for emergency treatment but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
Probers recovered two fired cartridges for cal. 9mm and two metal fragments at the crime scene.
The victim’s cadaver was brought to the St. James Funeral Parlor for autopsy.
Police said they are investigating the past dealings of the victim in ascertaining the motive behind the killing.
Farin’s murder came a day after 51-year-old businessman-engineer Manuel G. Lacsamana, a former ‘Operation Tulong’ member of DZRH, was gunned down by unidentified motorcycle-riding men while driving his Mitsubishi Strada in Cabanatuan City last Saturday night.
