82 most wanted held, 15 firearms seized in CAR

POLICE arrested 82 most wanted persons and confiscated 15 assorted firearms and explosives in two days in Cordillera Administrative Region.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera director Chief Supt. Edward Esperat Carranza this is consonance with the order of PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde to intensify police action against all forms of criminality, which resulted in the arrest of 82 personalities with various offenses.

He said 58 of those arrested have warrants while 16 others were nabbed during the region-wide implementation of search warrants and eight others for Illegal gambling and related activities.

The searches also resulted in the confiscation of 15 assorted high and low powered firearms, 120 assorted ammunition for different calibers; six magazines for assorted firearms, an MK fragmentation hand grenade, 189 blasting caps, two rolls of safety fuse, and .5 kg of ammonium nitrate/fuel oil.

Among those arrested were four top most wanted persons in the region, including Rudy de Guzman, no. 7 TMWP in Ifugao, who was arrested in Nungawa, Asipulo, on May 25, for violation of RA 7610; Ace Escudero, alias Jarel, Cabresos Cagara, alias Jebrill, no. 2 TMWP of Station 4, Baguio City Police Office (frustrated homicide); Dexter Caligtan, no. 7 TMWP of La Trinidad, who was nabbed at his residence in Lubas for violation of RA 7610; and Amilyn Toni (frustrated murder), no. 3 TMWP of Tubo, Abra.

On anti-illegal logging, a total of 1,902 board feet worth P154,302 was confiscated during operations in Mt. Province and Ifugao.

On anti-illegal gambling operations in La Trinidad, three suspects were caught in the act of playing card games.
