ANGELES City -- Police are hunting down a Filipino-American who used to belong to the US Navy and served as a police officer in the United States for shooting to death his wife inside their home in Bgy. Balibago here last Thursday.

Chief Insp. Romeo Castro identified the suspect as Enrique “Ike” Gomez Angeles, 57, a father of three, while the fatality was identified as Mylene Flores Angeles, 32.

The couple’s 12-year-old son sought the help of barangay tanods at 11:30 a.m. after his father allegedly shot to death his mother.

The son told investigators that he came home after school and was surprised to see the room of his mom in disarray. Seconds later, he heard a gunshot from the bathroom and when he rushed there, he saw his mom lying on the floor with blood oozing from her body.

He then saw his father holding a gun, which the latter poked at him, prompting him to run outside to seek help. He left his two-year-old sister and 10-month-old brother inside the house.

When the police and members of the Special Weapons and Tactics arrived before 1 p.m., they called up the suspect to negotiate, thinking that he had taken his two young children hostage.

But after receiving no response from the suspect until 2:30 p.m., the SWAT team decided to move in and found out that he was already gone, bringing with him his daughter. The boy was found inside the house and the lifeless body of Mylene.

Policemen are still trying to determine the whereabouts of the suspect as of press time.
