6 ‘Termite’ men identified, charged

CAMP Brig. Gen. Vicen-te Lim, Bgy. Canlubang, Calamba City, Laguna -- Police have filed robbery charges against six members of the “Termite Gang” who robbed a pawnshop in the city last Feb. 18, 2018.

Biñan City chief of police Supt. Reydante Ariza identified the suspects as Jonathan Antiwag, alias Ricky Agpawa, of Bontoc, Baguio City; Allan Bonbon Bulanit, of Goonogon, Bontoc, Mt. Province; Tony Bulalong Magayam, of Sitio Kulasi, Bgy. San Luis, Antipolo City; Kenneth Doyodoy, alias Monro, of San Carlos, Baguio City; Silvestre Benildo, of Dasmariñas, Cavite; Jefferson Sagunday Beligin,  of Upper San Vicente, Kennon Road, Baguio City; and one alias Brixton, of Quirino, Ilocos Sur.

Ariza said the suspects were identified by the security guard and other witnesses through police rogue gallery.

The robbery was discovered at 9 a.m. of Feb. 18, 2018 at Z Onofre Pawnshop on A. Bonifacio St., Poblacion, Biñan City.

Pawnshop teller Suzette Josafat discovered the robbery while opening the said pawnshop.

The suspects carved out a hole in the ground inside the teller’s booth and then carved another hole in the concrete wall of the vault.
The pawnshop lost P100,000 in cash and P2 million worth of jewelry.
Police investigators recovered two lever tools, two metal saw, oxygen tank, LPG tank, acetylene rod, bolt cutter, hand drill, flashlight and hydraulic jack inside the pawnshop.
Ariza said the suspects entered through a drainage along J. Gonzales Street and crawled 400 meters toward the pawnshop.
Upon entry at the said pawnshop, the suspects covered all openings of the rollup-door to avoid being notice from the outside. They then forcibly opened the large vault by creating a hole at the concrete wall then applied pressure using the hydraulic-jack.
Police investigators believed that the suspects started digging since Feb. 16, 2018.
