POLICE Regional Office 1 director Chief Supt. Romulo E. Sapitula yesterday announced the relief of six chiefs of police in Pangasinan for failing their monthly performance evaluation rating.

Relieved were the chiefs of police of Asingan, San Manuel, Sison, Sta. Maria, Balungao and Aguilar municipal police stations. They became the latest PRO1 chiefs of police to be ousted from their posts in the heels of the relief of 13 others from La Union and Ilocos provinces.

Sapitula said the six failed the monthly Chief of Police Performance Evaluation Rating or COPPER. Prior to that, he said that he has given the six one more week to double their effort in fighting drugs and criminality in their respective municipalities taking into consideration the series of calamities that have struck the province.

The official said the six were designated as checkpoint officers, like the 11 other COPs previously relieved.

Sapitula said that he is making sure that the entire Ilocos-Pangasinan police force is working well by putting the right men on the right job.

The official, however, commended members of the Mangaldan Municipal Police Station led by Supt. Jay Baybayan for rejecting a bribe offer and arresting the person who tried to corrupt them last Thursday.
