5 nabbed for drugs in Calamba

FIVE drug personalities, including a barangay policeman, were nabbed by operatives of Drug Enforcement Team  (DET) during anti-illegal drug operation in Bgy. Saimsim, Calamba City, Laguna, on Tuesday afternoon.

Calabarzon police director Chief Supt. Edward Carranza identified the suspects as Romenick Madera, 23, Rodrigo Andres, 38, Ronny Madera, 28, Jay-ar Rapael  24, Domael Efren, 52, barangay policeman, and Demetrio Castillo, 50, all of Calamba City.

A Calamba police DET led by Chief Insp. Mark Rebanal, under the supervision of Supt. Harold Depositar, OIC chief of police, conducted a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Saimsim, in coordination with PDEA 4A, that resulted in the arrest of the suspects and the confiscation of five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of  P3,500, five marked P100 bills, two pieces of  P100 bills, four aluminum improvised tooters, three aluminum foil strips, two disposable lighters,  two unsealed transparent plastic of suspected shabu, and a coin pouch.

The suspects and recovered pieces of evidence were brought to RCLO 4-A, Camp Vicen-te Lim, Bgy. Mayapa, Calamba, Laguna, for drug and laboratory examination.

Police will file criminal cases for violation of RA 9165 against the suspects, who were locked up in jail.
