3 shot dead by 5 bonnet-wearing men

FIVE unidentified bonnet-wearing armed men shot dead three helpers who were reportedly sleeping inside their improvised tents in Sitio Kasay-an, Purok 3, Bgy. San Ignacio, San Pablo City, Laguna, on Sunday night.

Laguna police director Senior Supt. Kirby John Brion Kraft identified  the fatalities as Jessie Cuevas Carabio, 28, Henry Royo Rubina, 36, and Ramon Maloles, all of Sitio Kasay-an, Purok 3, Bgy. San Ignacio, San Pablo City.

The trio sustained gunshot wounds in their bodies and heads from unknown caliber of firearms  and were pronounced dead on arrival at Pagamutang Panlalawigan ng Laguna as per information given by Dr. Malveda, attending physician.

Investigation revealed that the victims were inside their improvised tents at 11:45 p.m. when, suddenly, they were approached by the five unidentified suspects, all wearing bonnets and armed with short and long firearms, and shot them several times at close range.

The San Pablo City police, under Supt. Eliseo Bernales, yesterday said they were still determining the identities of the five suspects, who fled to unknown directions.

A barangay official said one of the slain victims was allegedly involved in illegal drugs.

“Sinasabing ang mga napatay ay nagsasagawa ng pot session nang pagbabarilin,” the official said.

SPO1 Abdullah Jamerson Takukin, officer on case, said bloodstains were found scattered at the crime scene.

Police also resovered at the scene fired cartridge cases for unknown caliber of firearms, rolled aluminum foil and a cal. .38 revolver.
