ZAMBALES -- When going to a party, don’t drink and drive either. This was a lesson learned from the fate of two friends, who both drowned after a happy drinking session in Paradise Resort in San Antonio town.
In a report of Senior Insp. Jonathan Bordale, chief of San Antonio Municipal Police Station, the victims were identified as Alexander Fogata Sr., 63, and Renate Rosete, 38, both farmers, of Sitio Maballiguen, Purok 4, Bgy. Beddeng, San Narciso town.
Initial investigation showed that at around 3:30 p.m., Fogata, Rosete and a certain Regie Fran where allegedly already drunk when they ordered another three bottles of Red Horse beer for a “last round.”
True enough, after consuming the beer, the three decided to take a dip into the pool. Fogata and Rosete dove on the seven-foot deep pool while Fran went to the Kids’ Pool instead.
Minutes later, a scream was heard after some guests saw the two bodies drowning at the bottom of the pool. Lifeguards of the resort, hurriedly brought the bodies to the surface and were given cardiovascular resuscitation (CPR) but the victims did not survive.
Responding doctor from the Rural Health Unit declared the victims dead.
Meanwhile, three gunmen shot and killed one Ramil dela Cruz, 40, son of rent-a-van operator in Bgy. Collat, Masinloc, Zambales, the other day in the said town.
Police said that at around 5:30 p.m., a certain Lando Sta. Maria, 42, of Bgy. Tapuac, Masinloc, Zambales, was seen roaming near the residence of the victim.
Minutes later, two motorcycle-riding companions arrived and asked about hiring a van. However, when they saw Dela Cruz, they started shooting him and escaped.
