CAMP Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-Cor) arrested  three persons and  confiscated  illegal  firearms and ammunition in separate operations in Abra, PRO-Cor director Chief Supt. Elmo Francis O. Sarona said yesterday.

Sarona identified the suspects as Cesar Frio Blanes, 48, butcher, of Sitio Turod, Calaba, Bangued, who was arrested Thursday afternoon.

Seized from Blanes were a Colt MKIV cal. .45 pistol (SN 835621), 12 live ammunition and two magazines for the gun, while the household of Maneul Malaggay Labaoan, 40, driver, of Bgy. Cabaroan, Tayum, Abra, yielded a cal. .45 Colt MK IV (SN258910), a magazine assembly, eight live ammunition for the same caliber of gun and a holster. Labaoan was nabbed on Wednesday.

Both were arrested in their respective residences by virtue of a warrant of arrest.

In another operation, one Angelo Dacanay Alfiler, a.k.a. “Gelo, 47, was arrested in his residence in Bgy. Velasco, Tayum,  when a cal. .22 Armscor rifle without serial number and four bullets for the gun were seized. The operation was conducted after surveillance operations.
     
The suspects, together with the confiscated items, were placed under the custody of the concerned operating units. They were charged with violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
 
The PRO-Cor is also focusing on the campaign against loose firearms and gun-related violence in the streets including those involving weapons, Sarona said.
