3 inmates killed in Jolo jailbreak

THREE high profile detainees were killed, one was wounded and ten others including members of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) escaped from their detention cell yesterday norning in Jolo, Sulu.

The fatalities were identified as Julbig Alijani, Budda Basali and Midzfar A. Sabli, all facing violation of RA 9165 or illegal drugs.

Wounded and recaptured was Gummi J. Maimbong, also facing charges of illegal drugs.

Police are now conducting manhunt operation against ten other prisoners who escaped from their detention identified as Makrim J. Habbisi, Alsimar. A. Basali, Nasir S. Maldam, Albin A. Alibasa, Julhaber H. Sariol, Benjie Pandoga, allegedly members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG); Mustafa A. Sarapudding, Haber S. Kasim, Benjamine Baker and Tano Hadjula all facing drug charges.

Reports reaching Camp Crame showed that the jailbreak was discovered at around 1:25 a.m. inside Jolo Municipal Police Station Detention Cell.

Accordingly, 14 out of  38 prisoners escaped from the jail facilities and were discovered by duty personnel of the said police station.
Elements of Jolo Municipal Police Station immediately responded to the incident and conducted hot pursuit operation that resulted in the killing of three inmates and wounding of another one.
It was learned that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also extended help to recapture the escapees by lending their resources particularly K9 units and drone to track the detainees.
