CAMP Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas -- Three men were arrested by authorities for transporting dog meat in Bgy. Mataas na Bayan, Lemery town, provincial police PIO chief Senior Insp. Kerwin Amor Umali Cabrales said last Sunday.
A report to Batangas police director Senior Supt. Edwin Aguilan Quilates by Lemery Municipal Police Station head Chief Insp. Alfie Maluenda Salang said the three suspects were identified as Kyth Wadingan Baybay, Perry Asuet Baybay and Diwan Ay-ayak Baybay.
Salang said that at around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, a patrol team of this station led by police deputy chief Senior Insp. Garry A. Abregunda, together with the team of the International Wildlife Coalition Trust (IWCT) represented by Lynson dela Cruz, a researcher and investigator, conducted an operation against the three suspects for violation of Republic Act 8485 as amended by RAs 10631 and 9482 which resulted in their arrests in Bgy. Mataas na Bayan after being caught in the act of transporting 54 dog meats loaded on a Toyota Hi-Ace van.
Abregunda said that when the police spotted the subject vehicle, they flagged it down. When inspected, the vehicle yielded dog parts piled up aboard.
Police are still investigating the suspects to find out where they got the dog meat.
