2 suspects in Cagayan unsolved crimes hunted

CAGAYAN policemen yesterday were challenged to immediately solve two crimes in the province last
Saturday which sent three victims to the hospital, two still fighting for their lives as of press
time.

The 1st took place at Caritan Centro Highway in Tuguegarao City at 11:40 p.m. Saturday
involving retired 62-year-old teacher Erna Navarro, of Cabalza St., Bgy. Atulayan Sur.
    
Investigation showed that the victim had just boarded a tricycle when she was followed by an
unidentified motorcycle-riding man.
    
Suddenly, the suspect went near the tricycle and snatched the shoulder bag of the victim who
was beside the driver. Although surprised, the retired teacher did not let go of her bag, causing her
to fall on the pavement and sustain head injuries.
    
Companions of the victim took her to People’s General Hospital where she underwent emergency
treatment before being transferred to Saint Paul Hospital.
    
The suspect was able  to escape.
    
The 2nd occurred in Zone 1, Bgy. Masical, Baggao municipality, at 7:44 p.m. Seriously injured
was  4th year college student Alvin Cuevas, 20, of Bgy. Temblique, and Crisencia Duritan, 48, a
housewife from Dabbac Grande.
    
The two were onboard a Nissan passenger van (ACL-4946) when the vehicle was fired upon by
unidentified gunmen.
    
Bullets shattered the rear right window and body of the vehicle being driven by Joel Siddayao,
41, and hit the two victims.
