ANGELES City -- A man and his female relative were arrested for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition in separate operations in Bgy. Amsic, here, the other day.
Chief Insp. Rommel Labalan, head of the Pampanga Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, identified the arrested persons as Lito de Vera Meneses, 39, and Remedios Custodio Meneses, 47, both of Purok 6, Bgy. Amsic.
Labalan said Lito is the alleged leader of Meneses Criminal Gang, which is reportedly involved in proliferation of illegal drugs and firearms and ammunition in this city. Remedios is allegedly a member of the group.
Armed with search warrants issued by Angeles City Regional Trial Court Branch 57 Executive Judge Omar Viola, Pampanga CIDG operatives first raided the residence of Lito and proceeded to Remedios’ house.
The policemen found six rounds of live ammunition for 12G shotgun and six rounds for cal. 5.56mm from Lito’s residence. They also discovered a cal. .38 stainless snub nose revolver without serial number and five rounds of live ammunition for the said gun from the residence of Remedios.
The suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The two are currently detained at the Pampanga CIDG headquarters.
