TWO armed drug dealers in Bulacan were killed in separate firefights in Hagonoy and Sta. Maria towns on Friday, Bulacan Police Provincial Office director Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna said yesterday.

“Both suspects became violent after learning they were dealing with plainclothes officers and instead of surrendering opted to shoot it out with our officers leading to their death,” Bersaluna said.

He said around 10:15 p.m. on Friday, the suspect identified only as alias “Henry” was killed in a shootout with members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Hagonoy municipal police in Barangay Iba-Ibayo. The suspect yielded a loaded .38 revolver, five plastic sachets of shabu and the marked money. On the same day, a 30-year-old suspect identified through his driver’s license as Constantine Lester Belvis alias “Saging,” of Lot 12, Block 1, Tierra de Sta. Maria Subdivision, Bgy. Pulong Buhangin was killed in a police operation in the area.

In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Chief Supt. Amador V. Corpus, Bersaluna said Belvis sold P500 worth of shabu to a poseur from the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Sta. Maria municipal police at his residence around 1:30 a.m. when he sensed the presence of policemen. The suspect shot the undercover agent but missed. Back-up operatives returned fire killing the suspect on the spot.
