TWO known ‘high-value’ drug targets in Mindanao, one of them a former barangay captain in Cotabato who sought village council seat in last Monday’s elections were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency during two separate anti-narcotics operations which led in the seizure of more than P200,000 worth of shabu, PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino reported yesterday.
Aquino said suspect Alladin Matabalo Darping, a 54-year old former chairman in Kapinpilan, Mother Kalangalan, Cotabato City was arrested following a raid in his residence on Friday last week which resulted in the confiscation of some P102,000 worth of shabu.
Members of the PDEA Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, with the assistance of the local police and the military searched the house of the suspect on the strength of a warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 issued by a local court.
According to Aquino, the raid led in the recovery of 83 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing some 15 grams of shabu with a market value of P102,000 in Cotabato City and several documents belonging to the suspect including bank passbooks and identification cards.
Second suspect identified as Eric Jun-Jun Gorospe, 47, was arrested by PDEA Region 11 officers who raided his house in Purok Pag-ibig in Bgy. Zone 3, Koronadal City last Thursday. The operation led in the confiscation of some P177,000 worth of shabu, several drug paraphernalia including a digital weighing scale and improvised tooters and plastic sachets with shabu residue, said Aquino.
