QUEZON, Nueva Ecija -- Two suspected drug pushers were killed when they fought off operating anti-drugs detectives conducting a buy-bust operation here early yesterday morning.
Provincial police director Senior Supt. Antonio C. Yarra said the armed encounter resulted in the death of one alias Boy Bulak, who was later identified as Ananias Bangate Jr., 37, of Villa Isidra, Bgy. Bantug, Muñoz Science City, Nueva Ecija, and his cohort, who remained unidentified as of presstime yesterday.
Yarra said the buy-bust operation was conducted by joint operatives of the local police and members of the provincial special operations group in Bgy. San Alejandro at 5:30 a.m.
Bangate allegedly sensed that his drug buyer was a police officer which prompted him and his cohort to immediately escape aboard a black Racal motorcycle and fire at the operating lawman.
This triggered a brief encounter which saw the suspect and his cohort being shot in retaliation by the pursuing operatives.
Recovered at the encounter site were a cal. .38 revolver loaded with four cartridges and a fired cartridge case, and four fired cartridge cases for cal. 9mm, while six heat-sealed plastic sachets containing alleged shabu were recovered from the suspects’ possession, as well as a hand grenade from Bangate’s cohort.
Yarra said the suspects’ bodies were brought to the Santiago Funeral Parlor in Bgy. San Miguel for autopsy.
