OFW, seaman caught selling shabu

GENERAL Trias City -- An alleged overseas Filipino worker and a seaman were caught in the act of selling illegal drugs by local policemen, acting city police chief Supt. Paul Bometivo said yesterday.

Suspects, Mark Jeero V. dela Cruz, 36, married, OFW, and Arjay D. Villanueva, 31, married, seaman, both of Tejeros Convention, Rosario, Cavite, were caught in the act of selling shabu to poseur-buyers from the city police’s Drugs Enforcement Team (DET) in exchange for two marked P100 bill during a buy-bust operation on Thursday in Bgy. Bacao 2.

The suspects were placed under the custody of the police while a case for violation of Secs. 5 and 11 of Art. 2, RA 9165 will be filed against the suspects in court. The recovered pieces of evidence were brought to Cavite Crime Laboratory, Imus City, for examination.

In Naic town, eight persons were apprehended by local police for illegal gambling on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Intel operatives of Naic MPS under Supt. Janet L. Arinabo, OIC, conducted an anti-illegal gambling operation at Freedomville Subdivision in coastal Bgy. Bucana Sasahan, Naic, that led to the arrest of the eight suspects who were caught in the act of playing “tong-its and “bet game”.

Recovered from their possession were two sets of playing cards and bet money amounting to P670 in different denominations. The suspects were detained at Naic MPS custodial center. The eight suspects will be charged with violation of PD 1602 or illegal gambling.
