Sister Fox seeks reversal of BI ruling

October 15, 2018

Australian missionary Patricia Fox yesterday asked the Department of Justice to reverse the ruling of the Bureau of Immigration denying her to renew her missionary visa.

Fox, through the National Union of People’s Lawyers, reiterated her previous arguments that the BI has prejudged her case based mainly on the statement of President Rodrigo Duterte against her and not the merits of the case.

She said the BI was never been objective in resolving the deportation case and that the bureau even failed to resolve the issue of whether the activities she allegedly committed are violative of the conditions of her missionary visa or if it’s a valid exercise of her right to free speech and peaceful assembly.

Fox also argued in her latest filing before the DoJ that she is also entitled to the same constitutional guarantees of free expression and peaceful assembly granted to Filipinos unless there is a clear and present danger to bar it.
