THE invitation for Vice President Leni Robredo to the Duterte administration’s first Vin d’honneur was recalled by Malacañang, the Office of the Vice President confirmed.
In a statement, Robredo’s spokesperson Georgina Hernandez said they received the invitation on December 28, 2016 through e-mail, but it was recalled on January 4, 2017.
According to Hernandez, Malacañang informed the Vice President that guests are limited during the event.
“On January 4, Malacañang called the Office to retract the invitation, stating that the guest list was limited,” the statement read.
President Rodrigo Duterte yesterday hosted the first Vin d’honneur in Malacañang.
The Vin d’honneur is a traditional twice a year event hosted by the President for foreign diplomats and government officials.
Last year, Robredo was ordered not to attend the Cabinet meeting anymore due to differences with the President.
The order was done through text message and not by a formal letter.
This prompted Robredo to resign as chairperson of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).
Days after, President Duterte accused Robredo of joining rallies calling for his ouster, which she denied.
