NEUTRALIZE the possible successors of the slain terror leaders, Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon, vice chairman of the House Committee on Security and National Defense, urged the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Biazon commended the brave effort of the government troops in regaining Marawi City from the hands of Maute, a group reportedly affiliated with the ISIS.
“Oorah and Hooah to the soldiers of the Republic!” Biazon said.
“At the outset, I would like to congratulate the officers and enlisted personnel of the AFP for this accomplishment which will bring peace closer to Marawi in particular and the country in general,” he added.
The AFP must not forget the successors of Omar Maute and Isnilon Hapilon.
“The AFP should exploit this opportunity. Of course it must be realized that this may be a temporary window of opportunity because successors may soon take over, unless those potential leaders are likewise neutralized or the pressure on the terrorists sustained enough to prevent them from reorganizing,” Biazon said.
The solon said that the neutralization of Hapilon and Maute is a significant blow dealt to the terrorist groups by the AFP.
For his part, PBA party-list Rep. Jericho Nograles expressed belief that the death of Hapilon and Maute will lead to the surrender of the remaining forces.
He is also confident that the martial law in Mindanao will end before Christmas.
“Afterwards, let us focus our energies towards rebuilding Marawi and hope that we can heal the wounds of war. The next frontier is BBL (Bangsamoro law) and Federalism. I pray that Congress will study these bills carefully and put lasting peace and prosperity as the primary objectives,” Nograles said.
