Mendez is PNP-OIC

PHILIPPINE National Police Deputy Chief for Operations Deputy Director General Fernando Mendez, Jr. on
Sunday was named Officer-in-Charge of the 170,000-strong police force in the absence of Director General
Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and PNP Deputy Chief for Administration Deputy Director General Ramon Apolinario
who are both on official trips abroad.

Mendez is a classmate of Dela Rosa from Philippine Military Academy Class 1986 while Apolinario
belongs to PMA Class 1985.
Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup of PMA Class 1987 was also designated OIC of the PNP Directorate
for Operations vice Director Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, another PMA Class 1986 member, who is also on
an official foreign mission.
Chief Supt. Mariel Magaway, also of PMA Class 1986, was named OIC of the PNP Directorate for
Intelligence vice Director Gregorio Pimentel, who is likewise on an official foreign trip.
Pimentel is a classmate of Apolinario from PMA Class 1985.
