Duterte promotes 5 new PNP generals

PRESIDENT Duterte has approved the promotion of five senior Philippine National Police officials led by new Police Director Cedrick G. Train, a lawyer from PNP Academy Class 1984.

Train was the erstwhile Police Regional Office 12 director in Central Mindanao until he assumed his new post as director of the PNP Directorate for Integrated Police Operations-Western Mindanao last month.

The four others were newly-promoted Chief Superintendents Elmer C. Cabreros, the director of the PNP Engineering Service; Rhodel O. Sermonia, the director of the  Police-Community Relations group; Restito P. Gatera, the director of the PNP Logistics Support Service; and Elpidio DS Gabriel Jr., the director of the PNP Training Service.

Cabreros is a member of Philippine Military Academy Class 1988 while Sermonia is the youngest member of PMA Class 1989 in the PNP, retiring in January 2024.

Gatera, another PNPA graduate while Gabriel and classmate at the PMA ‘Sinagtala’ Class of 1986 of PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” M. dela Rosa. Gabriel, marked his 55th birthday last December 26 and will retire on his 56th birthday this year.
Train and Gatera are among the scores of PNPA graduates who are now occupying key positions in the PNP. Others include Director Efren M. Perez, another PNPA Class 1984 member who is currently the PNP Director for Research and Development; PNPA Class 1986 members Chief Supt.  Gilberto DC Cruz, the PRO8 director in Eastern Visayas, and Chief Supt. Romulo E. Sapitula, now the new PRO1 director in Ilocos-Pangasinan region; Chief Supt. Manolo  N. Ozaeta, a lawyer who is currently the director of the PNP Legal Service; and Chief Supt. Rodelio B. Jocson of PNPA Class 1987, now the PNP Maritime Group director.
