Doc with ‘malasakit’ Lakas bet for Senate

PRESIDENT of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats Atty. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez yesterday announced another senatorial candidate, Dr. Willie Ong.

Famous for his blog in social media, Ong is a renowned and patriotic medical expert. He has a lot of followers due to his free medical advice and healthy lifestyle tips.

According to Romualdez, Ong took his oath as Lakas-CMD member and will be joining the party chairman, former Sen. Bong Revilla Jr., in the senatorial line-up.

Earlier, Romualdez also announced the decision of Revilla to join the senatorial race in 2019. He is under detention in connection with the pork barrel fund scam.

Romualdez, president of the Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa),  said the Lakas-CMD will also  support the senatorial candidates to be endorsed by Hugpong ng Pagbabago regional party of presidential daughter and incumbent Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio.

“Our respected and beloved Doktor ng Bayan, Dr. Ong, will give voice to the underprivileged people of the society who are in need of free medical assistance,” Romualdez said.

Dr. Ong is far from an ordinary in the medical professional. He devoted his 25 years in public service conducting medical missions and giving free health tips and advice.

His tireless work is driven by his will to show “malasakit” (compassion) to the plight of the marginalized sector by treating them fair and square.

“We believe and fully support the good intentions of Dr. Ong to seek an elective post in next year’s midterm poll and follow in the footsteps of our late Sen. Juan Flavier, who established the Doctors to the Barrios program,” Romualdez said.

In a related story, Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano also confirmed his plan to join the senatorial race.

However there is no final decision yet if he is joining the coalition of the Liberal Party.
