THE House of Representatives is set to file the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) measure by next week.

Relaying to House media the result of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC), Fariñas said President Rodrigo Duterte had asked the lawmakers to file the Palace version of the BBL.

However, President Duterte will let Congress draft the final version of the BBL.

“We will file next week the bill for the BBL submitted by the BTC. The President informed us that he will leave to the wisdom of the Congress the final version of the BBL,” Fariñas said.

The Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) had drafted its version and submitted it to the Palace.

Fariñas also said that President Duterte is likely to certify as urgent the proposed BBL.

The BBL was high on the agenda of the LEDAC held Wednesday night.

During the 16th Congress, the passage of the BBL was derailed due to apparent loss of confidence in the main beneficiary of the measure – the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. (MILF).
