Woman turns in P3.2-M shabu, gun to QC cops; 14 drug suspects held

AN estimated P3.2 million worth of shabu, a caliber .45 firearm with magazine and ammunition were surrendered yesterday in Quezon City by a woman who was allegedly told by her husband to keep the contraband. 

It was learned that on April 18, 2017, Joy Haldos, 42, of Everlasting St., Bgy. Pasong Tamo, along with her teenage son and his 16-year-old pal, went to barangay hall of Bgy. Pasong Tamo and informed the authorities that they will surrender approximately one kilo of shabu, a cal. .45 with magazine and ammunition and a cellphone.
Emmanuel Pilar, chairman of the said barangay, relayed the said information to Talipapa Police Station (PS-3) commander Supt. Danilo Mendoza, who in turn, conducted recovery operation at 192 Rosal St., Pingkian, Bgy. Pasong Tamo.
Investigation showed that the seized items were  owned by Joseph Haldos Sr., wife of Joy, who was reportedly arrested on April 1, 2017, along with one Roland Fagela, 56, during a drug buy-bust operation at around 8:30 p.m. on Tandang Sora Avenue.
Haldos Sr. instructed the 16-year-old friend of his son to keep the illegal items inside their house, which out of fear, revealed the matter to the officials.
Police mull pressing more charges against Haldos with the seizure of the illegal drugs and firearm and ammunition.
In another development, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested 14 drug suspects in separate police operations.
Around 7 p.m. Wednesday in front of the Pepsi Company on Quirino Highway, Talipapa, Arnel Palconit Cruz, 46, of 423-G Quirino Hi-way, Talipapa, was arrested by PS-3 operatives in response to a telephone call of a concerned citizen.
Police verified the report and chanced upon the suspect in possession of a plastic sachet of shabu.
The same operatives also arrested at 8:30 p.m. Jonathan Magcasi Ligon at his residence at Unit 320 MRH Bldg., Teachers Bliss, Balon Bato, QC, together with two other suspects, Nicolas Jose Canoy Adobas, 27, of 216 Malolos St., East Balong Bato; and Melchor Glen Pintor Tremor, 46, of 88 Pangako St., Bagong Bario, Caloocan City, after they received a report on an ongoing shabu session at Ligon’s residence.
At about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Novaliches Police Station (PS-4) operatives arrested Herbert Arzuelo, alias “Bato”, 28, in his residence on Jordan St., Bgy. San Agustin, Novaliches, during a buy-bust operation. Seized were three sachets of shabu and the buy-bust money.
Suspects Fernand Cuesta Addatu, 22, John Michael Villaluz Samonte, 18, Alirasul Tala Faisal, 18, Raymond Testigo Addatu, 21, Robert Nabaunag Pradanos, 23, and a 17-year-old male, were arrested at 2:30 p.m. on Dirham St. corner Baht St., Phase 8, Bgy. North Fairview, by Fairview Police Station (PS-5) cops, who spotted them at a shabu session. Confiscated from the suspects were a plastic sachet of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
At 10:30 p.m., at 9 BF Rd., Bgy. Holy Spirit. QC, Batasan Police Station (PS-6) operatives nabbed Roberto dela Pena delos Santos Jr., 33, of 31 Saint Vincent St., Bgy. Holy Spirit, during a buy-bust operation. Confiscated from him were five sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.
Project 4 Police Station (PS-8) arrested Matthew Clyde Calvo Lopez, 25, of 91 Evangelist St., Bgy. Bagumbuhay, Proj. 4, at 6:25 p.m. on Evangelista St., Proj. 4, after he was caught selling drugs with another suspect, who managed to escape. Seized from him was a sachet of dried marijuana leaves.
Galas Police Station (PS-11) cops arrested Kenji Fernandez Joaquin, 21, of 35 Manungal St., Bgy. Tatalon, QC, at about 11:30 a.m., on G. Araneta Avenue in front of Omni Underwear Bldg., Bgy. Tatalon, after he was flagged down by the operatives for going against traffic. On checking his motorcycle, police saw in his compartment, one glass pipe with marijuana residue and two disposable lighters.
The suspects were all charged with violation of RA 9165.
