‘Tokhang’ surrenderer found dead in Pasay

A 38-year-old pedicab driver, who earlier surrendered to police following the implementation of “Oplan Tokhang”, was found dead right inside his house, yesterday in Pasay City.

Investigators from Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch of Pasay City identified the fatality as Melchor Celestino, of 2976 Interior, Mahogany Street, Bgy. 145 Zone 16, Barrio Sto. Niño, Pasay City.
Police said Celestino was found dead at 9:15 a.m. by his half-brother identified as Ruel Densing, 42, while sprawled on the floor at the sala of their house.
Ruel told police he was about to take a bath when he went down and found Melchor dead on the floor while the door was wide open.
Senior Insp. Elena Mediana said investigation showed that Melchor’s body bore several cuts in the head and left ear while an aluminum foil with residue of illegal drugs was found near his body.
Police records also showed that Melchor earlier surrendered to police following the implementation of Oplan Tokhang.
