Robber dies in firefight

A robbery-holdup suspect, who just held up a 28-year-old vendor, was killed when he engaged responding police officers in a shootout yesterday in Caloocan City.

Marly Caliso was waiting for a ride in front of Andok’s Lechon Manok on Langit Road, Bgy. 176, Bagong Silang, at 4 a.m. when the suspect appeared from behind and at gunpoint forcibly took her money and Samsung mobile phone then fled on foot.

The victim was able to seek help from patrolling police mobile and with the assistance of operatives of Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3, they conducted a follow-up operation in the area where the suspect was last seen fleeing.

When operatives of PCP-3 spotted the suspect, who fitted the description given by the victim, they tried to accost him but the latter pulled out a cal. .38 revolver and fired at the lawmen, who returned fire and killed the suspect.

Police recovered from his possession the Samsung mobile phone and the green pouch containing money of the victim and the cal. .38 revolver of the suspect.
