Quezon City Police District nabs traveller for 16 bullets

THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has arrested a passenger after he was caught in possession of 16 live ammunition for caliber 5.56 at the Araneta Cubao Bus Terminal yesterday morning.

QCPD director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. identified the suspect as Bryan Bagazala, 35, of Tanay, Rizal.

The report said that at about 7:30 a.m. yesterday, Bagazala’s black and red travelling bag was inspected by duty security guard Sherwin Soriano at the entrance of Araneta Bus Terminal on Times Square Ave. near corner Gen. MacArthur Ave., Araneta Center, Cubao.

Soriano saw the ammunition inside his bag, prompting him to seek assistance from duty police officers manning the Police Assistance Desk (PAD).

The suspect told the police that the ammunition will be used as amulets. He was brought to Cubao Police Station (PS 7) for investigation.

Bagazala will be charged with violation of RA 10591 or The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Meanwhile, C/Supt. Esquivel said that aside from the 3,263 QCPD uniformed personnel deployed for the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day, the PNP National Headquarters deployed 47 police personnel to the Novaliches area. He also called on the public to refrain from bringing prohibited things such as unlicensed firearms and other deadly weapon, ammunition, pyrotechniques and similar flammable materials.
