Quezon City Police District nabs houseboy for employer’s rob-slay

Quezon City policemen has arrested a houseboy who reportedly robbed and killed a 55-year-old certified public accountant on Nov. 2, 2018 in Bgy. Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. identified the suspect as Donato “Bong” Dollente, 51, of 71 B. Desire Compound, San Ville St., Bgy. Culiat, stay-out houseboy of the victim, Maria Joy Rima Maskariño, for almost 10 years.

Investigation showed that at about 3 p.m. of November 3, Maskarino’s brother Edgar tried to call the meployer through her cellular phone but failed after several attempts.

At about 6 p.m., Edgar, along with his wife decided to go to the victim’s apartment at 4K Cleofas St., Bgy. Pasong Tamo, and discovered the lifeless body of the victim slumped bloodied on the floor.

They immediately reported the incident to the Talipapa Police Station (PS 3).

Cursory investigation on the victim’s body showed that she sustained head contusions, indicating she was  hit in the head with a hard object.

Further investigation by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) under Chief Insp. Elmer Monsalve showed that at 12 noon last Nov. 2, 2018, the victim and Dollente were last seen in a grocery store.

CIDU operatives invited Dollente for questioning at around 3 a.m. on Nov. 4 wherein he reportedly admitted that he killed the victim and robbed her of cash and personal belongings. Dollente also admitted to have broken the glass window and cleaned up the crime scene apparently to mislead police investigators.

At about 6:10 a.m. on Nov. 4, police investigators recovered  at Dollente’s house the personal belongings of the victim such as laptop, tablet, cellphone, Bucherer wristwatch, passports, IDs, ATM cards and bankbooks and P7,000 cash.

The dumbbells used in hitting the victim were recovered in a kitchen cabinet inside the victim’s apartment.

Dollente will be charged with robbery with homicide and will be brought for inquest to the City Prosecutor’s Office.
