QCPD kills drug suspect in clash, nabs 15

A drug suspect was killed while 15 others were arrested in latest anti-illegal drugs and anti-criminality operations in Quezon City.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. said the slain unidentified suspect was described as about 20 years old, wearing black short pants, of light built, and brown complexion.

The report said that at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, a concerned citizen reported to PS-3 that the suspect was seen with a handgun and suspiciously roaming along the Service Road in Bgy. Unang Sigaw.

Responding policemen were about to accost the suspect but were met with gunshots. A brief shootout resulted in the wounding of the suspect, who was rushed to Quezon City General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) investigators recovered from the suspect a caliber Colt 1911 .45 with two live ammunition, five empty shells for the gun, and 13 sachets of shabu.

Meanwhile, 15 drug suspects were also arrested by different police stations.

La Loma Police Station (PS 1) under Supt. Robert Sales arrested Raffy Benavidez, 28, Kim Daniel Manabat, 21, both of Bgy. Tatalon; Jayson Bordeos, 34, of Bgy. Ba-lingasa, and Rolando Avila, 42, of Bgy. St. Peter, at about 7 p.m. on July 15, at 8 Don Pepe St., Bgy. Sto. Domingo. Operatives were conducting covert operations when they caught the suspects in the act of illegal drug transaction that led to their arrest. Seized from them were four sachets of shabu.

Also, PS-3 personnel arrested Jeth Vertudazo, 19, of Bgy. Bahay Toro, at about 3:30 a.m., along Cadena De Amor, Sitio Militar, Bgy. Bahay Toro. The operatives were on patrol when they saw the suspect running upon seeing the approaching police officers. When cornered and frisked, he yielded a sachet of shabu.

In another operation, the same PS-3 operatives arrested Marvin Gudio, 27, and Rey Cortez, 33, both of Bgy. Tandang Sora, at 10:30 p.m. A concerned citizen reported an on-going shabu session at 1010 Taurus St., Bgy. Tandang Sora that led to their arrest. Confiscated were a sachet of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Batasan Police Station (PS 6) under Supt. Joel Villanueva arrested in a buy-bust John Lemos, 50, of Bgy. Bagong Silangan, at 4:30 p.m. at 618 Lucban St., Bgy. Bagong Silangan. Seized were four sachets of shabu and the buy-bust money.

Operatives of Cubao Police Station (PS 7) under Supt. Giovanni Hycenth Caliao arrested Christopher Guevarra, 40, of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan; Cario Sayoto Jr., 42, of Bgy. San Martin De Porres, Cubao; and William Ritago, 58, of Bgy. Socorro, Cubao, at 7:30 a.m. also on July 15, 2018. The operatives were conducting Oplan Galugad when they chanced upon the suspects in a shabu sniffing session in front of 112 C. Benitez St., Bgy. San Martin De Porres, Cubao. Confiscated were one sachet of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Galas Police Station (PS 11) under Supt. Tomas Nuñez arrested Roger Desor, 46, Miguel Sandico, 27, Dexter Dimzon, 32, and John Rey Mendoza, 27, all of Bgy. Doña Imelda, at about 2:20 a.m. on July 16, 2018 at 28 Palanza St., Bgy. Doña Imelda. Operatives received information from Isend Mo sa Team NCRPO Text Hotline about the shabu session at 28 Palanza St., Bgy. Doña Imelda. Responding operatives caught the suspects in the act. Confiscated from them were three sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects were charged with violation of RA 9165.
