Philippine Airlines cancels flights

FLAG carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced several domestic and international flight cancellations within November.

This, according to PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna, is in response to the government’s request for airlines to reduce the number of flights as part of the transition phase leading to an enhanced air navigational system.

In heeding the call, Villaluna said affected passengers who have provided their email addresses when they booked their original flights will receive notifications of cancellation.

As such, Villaluna said PAL is advising affected passengers to rebook their flights within 30 days from original travel date and rebooking fees will be waived.

‘Other options available are rerouting and refunding. Affected passengers may call PAL Hotline (02) 855-8888 for the rebooking of their tickets,’ Villaluna said.

She added: ‘PAL will post periodic updates, as needed, on its Official PAL Facebook Page and on its website www.philippineairlines.com. We are seeking the understanding and cooperation of our passengers as we carry out these operational adjustments in support of the transition period towards the full modernization of our country’s air navigational system.’

In another development, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Operations Center (OPCEN) has issued NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) C0806/18, closing Bacolod-Silay Airport’s runway 03/21 on November 9, 2018, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the closure is due to the airport’s conduct of a Full Scale Emergency Exercise in compliance with its Aerodrome Certification. The exercise will be conducted at the stated date and time of the runway closure.

‘Bacolod-Silay Airport has also coordinated with the airlines regarding the closure. Affected passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for their flight schedules’, he said.
