THE Bureau of Customs (BoC) announced the seizure of P133.6 million worth of shabu and dried marijuana leaves at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) misdeclared as other items.
BoC-NAIA District Collector Mimel Talusan presented yesterday the 17.96 kilos of shabu and 1.03 kilos of dried marijuana leaves that were concealed in five inbound parcels that arrived at the NAIA from the United States from May 26 to June 7, 2018.
It was learned from Talusan that the P133.6 million worth of illegal drugs were declared as DVD players, furniture, cereals and chairs and were intercepted by customs authorities at the FedEx warehouse after they were found to bear fictitious senders and claimants.
The senders were identified as Taylor Dizion, Eagler Po Box Rental, Gina Gamboa, Raven Mesina and Donna Mendoza. The parcels were said to be consigned to a certain Christina Dizon, Alvin Santiago, Sergio Gamboa Natividad, Gracen Washington and Ricardo Mendoza.
The parcels were subjected to controlled delivery, however, the arrest of the suspects was not successful since the names and addresses of the consignees were all fictitious.
Meanwhile, another two kilos of shabu worth P13.6 million which were seized on June 20, 2018, at the Port of Clark were also presented.
