‘Ninja’ cop’s courier yields P4.4M shabu

A WOMAN tagged as a courier of a jailed ‘ninja cop’ was arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and yielded some P4.420 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation Tuesday night in Sampaloc, Manila.

NCRPO chief Director Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said suspect Amelita Sabino was immediately arrested after she sold the drugs to an undercover officer in a compound at No. 907 Palawan Street in Sampaloc, Manila, at around 6:30 p.m.

Recovered from the suspect were seven plastic packets containing about 650 grams of shabu worth P4,420,000 and eight bundles of boodle money topped by marked P1,000 bills.

Eleazar said members of the NCRPO-RDEU headed by Chief Inspector Ferdinand Mendoza placed the suspect under surveillance after receiving reports that she was being utilized as a drug pusher and courier of dismissed Police Officer 2 Jolly Lapuz Aliangan, a former member of the now defunct NCRPO Regional Anti-Illegal Drug Division, who was arrested in an anti-narcotics raid in Sampaloc on May 26, 2016.

The National Bureau of Investigation agents recovered from Aliangan several kilos of shabu, P6.9 million in cash, several firearms and six vehicles.

Eleazar said they learned that even though Aliangan was detained at the Manila City Jail, he remained involved in illegal drug trafficking  in Metro Manila and nearby Calabarzon region. Eleazar ordered a follow-up investigation and operation to identify the main source of the drugs.

During interrogation, Sabino gave some “juicy details” regarding her illegal drug activities which they could use in pressing additional charges against Aliangan. She will be charged for drug selling and possession under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
