AN operative of the Manila Police District (MPD)-Station 7 cheated death after being shot by an alleged drug pusher during a buy-bust operation in Tondo, Manila, the other night.
Station commander Supt. Gerry Corpuz said suspect Kenneth Taysun, 33, of Sto. Tomas St., Sampaloc, Manila, died on the spot after the cop, identified as PO1 Napoelon Santos, fired back.
The operation took place at 11:18 p.m. in an alley on Dagupan Street, after police received information that the suspect’s home is being used as a drug den.
PO2 Romel Pantig reportedly posed as a buyer and police said that once the transaction was over, the suspect sensed he was dealing with a cop and fired at Pantig, who managed to seek cover.
PO1 Santos, meantime, pursued the suspect and during the running gunbattle, Santos got hit in the chest and fell. Fortunately, he was wearing a bullet vest. Recovered from the suspect were a cal. .38 gun and 15 sachets of shabu.
Meanwhile, MPD operatives also killed a drug pusher during a buy-bust operation inside the Manila North Cemetery in Blumentritt, Sta. Cruz, Manila, the other day.
Christian Edosora, 25, of Padre Algue in Tondo, was found in possession of a cal. .38 gun, two live ammo, 10 plastic sachets containing shabu and marked money.
Det. Jonathan Bautista of the MPD-Homicide Section said the buy bust took place at 3:45 p.m. on 9th Street inside the cemetery, after police received information that drugs were being sold there.
