Monreal orders arrest of illegal recruiter at NAIA

September 25, 2018

MANILA International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal directed the Airport Police Department-Intelligence and Investigation Division (APD-IID) to locate an illegal recruiter who has victimized at least 200 building attendants at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The order came after Monreal’s help was sought by the victims who claimed to have been gypped of a total of P740,000 by a female illegal recruiter whom they identified as a Mayan Louise and who allegedly promised them jobs in New Zealand.

Monreal thus ordered the APD  to have Louise arrested and charged accordingly.

In their complaint, one of the victims, identified as Nelly Britania, said that it all started when one of her co-workers at the NAIA was able to work in New Zealand without placement fee. Word spread that she was helped by her recruiter Louise.

From then on, many of the building attendants began seeking help from Louise and even appointed their building attendant supervisor as their go-between with Louise.

According to Britania, Louise asked each of them P1,200 for passport fee and P2,500 for medical expenses and told them to deposit the total amount to Medz Remittance Services with office address in Bicol.

Britania said more than 200 of them pounced on the supposed opportunity to work abroad, borrowed money from their colleagues and then deposited the money to the given bank account.

When nothing happened as months passed and Louise can no longer be contacted, they decided to seek help from Monreal.
