Man roasted alive in Pasay fire

A man was trapped and burned to death after a fire razed his rented apartment Thursday night in Pasay City.

Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) identified the fatality as Roniel Calamba but the Pasay City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) refused to confirm the victim’s identity since the body was burned beyond recognition when discovered in the rubble of burnt apartment.

Arson investigator FO1 Keenan Doblado said the fire started at the apartment unit of the victim at around 10 p.m at 120 Suerte St., F.B. Harrison, Bgy. 20 and quickly spread to three more residential units of two-storey apartment.

The fire of still undetermined origin was raised to third alarm before it was finally put out at around 11:13 p.m.

Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire and the cost of damage.
