Man with ‘anting-anting’ stabs cop, held

October 19, 2018

A 45-year-old man said to be under the influence of drugs was arrested after he tested his amulet or ‘anting-anting’ by trying to stab with a sharpened screw driver two patrolling policemen in Tondo, Manila.

Francisco Pagudar, said to be a member of the ‘Batang City Jail,’ of 325 C.M. Recto in Manila, was said to have been fired upon by PO1 Adrian Legaspi but the latter’s gun did not fire.

When nabbed, the suspect told the police that he was under the influence of drugs after taking solvent and shabu and was merely testing if his amulet works.

Legaspi sustained a stab wound in the stomach while his companion, SPO1 Bienvenido Ducusin, also got hit in the back.

The two were reportedly patrolling the area when the suspect showed up and stabbed them for no apparent reason. When pursued, an amulet was found tied to his waist.

On verification, it was found out that the suspect had been previously arrested and jailed for illegal tapping.

He is now detained at the MPD-Station 2 and will be charged with assault, serious physical injury and violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
