A construction worker was killed by a lone gunman while buying goods in a nearby store Tuesday night in Malabon City.

Victor Cirilo Jr., 44, of 82 Liwayway St., Bgy. Bayan-Bayanan, succumbed to a bullet wound in the chest while being rushed by his cousin Marvin Acuña, 22, to Ospital ng Malabon.

Acuña told Malabon police homicide investigators SPO1 Rolando Hernando and PO2 Jose Romeo Germinal II that he was standing in front of their house on Liwayway St. at around 8:15 p.m. when he witnessed how Joel Vilale, alias “Bok-Bok”, treacherously shot his cousin who was buying goods in the nearby store.

Elements of Malabon Police Community Precinct (PCP) 5 immediately conducted a follow-up operation  but the suspect was no longer in his house at 79 Liwayway St. when lawmen arrived.

Police recovered at the crime scene an empty shell for cal. .45 pistol which will be submitted to PNP Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

Investigators are eyeing personal grudge as the motive behind the killing since the suspect reportedly harbored ill-feelings against the victim.
