Malabon bgy chief kills self

A barangay captain committed suicide by shooting himself in the head, a day after he finished his plan
to organize a Christmas party in their barangay yesterday morning in Malabon City.

The lifeless body of Barangay Chairman Alex Roque Jr., 49, of 27 Bernales St., Bgy. Baritan,
was discovered by one of his watchmen slumped bloodied inside his room at around 8:30 a.m. with a
caliber .45 pistol still on his hand.
Initial information gathered by Malabon City police head of investigators Insp. Paul Dennis
Javier showed that the victim, who was separated from his first wife and now living with his live-in
partner, was allegedly addicted to cockfighting and a heavy drinker.
Police learned that the last time Roque spoke with his ex-wife while in a hospital, he
complaint of losing all his savings after he allegedly lost heavily in cockfighting.

The victim was last seen alive Tuesday night inside his room watching television while
drinking 1.75 liters of liquor which he almost consumed.
Two letters, believed to be a suicide note, was found beside the victim’s body wherein one was
allegedly addressed to his ex-wife and the other to his live-in partner.
